StoryFile, a Los Angeles-based conversational AI tech company, hereinafter referred to as “the Client,” is seeking proposals from qualified vendors and experienced artists or teams of artists to submit proposals for the creation of a photorealistic animated Labrador puppy model. The project involves two major efforts: 1) modeling/rigging the puppy model and 2) animating the puppy model to match the recorded audio. In addition, the selected artist or team must possess significant expertise in hair simulation to ensure a high level of realism.
Project Overview
The Client seeks a photorealistic animated, talking Labrador puppy model to be used with our organization’s conversational AI technology. The model should closely resemble a real Labrador puppy, and the animation must be synchronized with pre-recorded audio. The Client is responsible for sourcing the audio clips, which will be approximately 175 unique responses ranging from 5 seconds to 2 minutes. The puppy character will be sitting stationary, and while there may be some minimal movement requests (a wagging tail, the occasional raise of a paw, etc.) the majority of the movement will be focused on the face.
Scope of Work
The project’s scope can be divided into the following key tasks:
- Modeling/Rigging of the Puppy Model: Create a highly detailed, photorealistic 3D model of a Labrador puppy. Rig the model to allow for realistic movement and expressions.
- Animation: Animate the Labrador puppy model to match pre-recorded audio. This includes lip syncing, body movements, and facial expressions.
- Hair Simulation: Implement advanced hair simulation techniques to ensure the puppy’s fur looks realistic and behaves naturally.
Requirements
The selected artist or team must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in 3D modeling, rigging, and animation, with a portfolio of previous work showcasing similar projects.
- Proven experience in hair simulation and rendering, especially in the context of animals.
- Proficiency in software and tools commonly used in 3D modeling and animation, such as Blender, Maya, ZBrush, or equivalent.

Evaluation and Selection Criteria

- References and client testimonials.
- Must have production insurance.
Timeline
The project is expected to commence in January 2024 and should be completed by September 2024. The selected artist or team should be available for communication and updates throughout the project duration.
Budget
The vendor budget for this project is not to exceed $75,000 USD. Proposals should provide a detailed breakdown of costs, including labor, expenses, and any other relevant expenditures.

All submitted proposals will be treated as confidential. The Client will not disclose any information contained in the proposals to third parties without the written consent of the submitting party.
