Lessie Benningfield Randle's Life Story
Lessie Benningfield Randle was a child during the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Her home was looted and destroyed and she witnessed first hand the violence and trauma that eviscerated the beautiful town of Greenwood, Oklahoma. Her home was again taken from her in 1980 as a part of the Urban Renewal program. Today, she is a part of the Greenwood Advocates lawsuit seeking reparations for many Tulsans and is simply seeking a “comfortable” home at 106 years old.
